Who is responsible
The controller of your personal data is Nathnael Esayas Bulti, a self-employed sole trader (natural person) in Belgium, trading as Edane.
Address: Avenue de la Lesse 17, 1200 Woluwe-Saint-Lambert, Belgium. E-mail: contact@squareverdict.com. Enterprise number (Belgian Crossroads Bank for Enterprises): BE 1041.674.684. VAT number: BE 1041.674.684.
What data is collected
Square Verdict has no user accounts, no comments, no newsletter, no advertising and no analytics service, and no plugin on the site adds statistics, cookies or forms of its own. It handles personal data in these cases only:
- When you visit a page: the web server of our hosting provider, OVHcloud, records technical data about each request, such as your IP address, the date and time, the page requested and your browser's identification.
- When you write to us, with the contact form or by e-mail: your name, your e-mail address, the subject and your message. To limit abuse, the form also keeps a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address for one hour; it is not stored with your message.
- Cookies: the pages of Square Verdict set no cookies. No cookie is placed for analytics, advertising or social media.
- Links to Amazon marked “Paid link”: when you click one, you leave Square Verdict. Amazon then handles your visit under its own privacy notice and may set its own cookies. Amazon's reports tell us which products were bought through our links, not who bought them.
Why it is used and for how long
- Server records: to deliver the pages and keep the site secure. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure website (GDPR, Article 6(1)(f)). They are kept by OVHcloud for the period its hosting service sets; we do not use them for anything else.
- Messages: to read and answer them. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering the people who write to us (GDPR, Article 6(1)(f)). We keep a message for one year after our last exchange, then delete it, unless we need it longer to establish or defend a legal claim.
- Hashed IP address of the form: to stop repeated automated sending. Legal basis: legitimate interest in protecting the form (GDPR, Article 6(1)(f)). Kept for one hour.
- Giving your name and e-mail address is not required by law, but without them we cannot answer you. No decision about you is made automatically.
Who receives it
- OVHcloud (France), our hosting provider: it hosts the site, records the server data and handles the sending of messages from the form and our e-mail address.
- Microsoft (Outlook.com), the e-mail service where we receive and answer messages. Microsoft may process them outside the European Union, including in the United States, under the safeguards described in its privacy statement.
- We do not sell your data and do not share it with makers, retailers or advertisers.
Your rights
You can ask us for access to your personal data, its correction or deletion, a limit on its use, a copy in a portable format, or object to its use. Write to contact@squareverdict.com or to the address above; we answer within one month, as the GDPR requires.
You can also complain to a data protection authority. In Belgium this is the Autorité de protection des données (Data Protection Authority), www.autoriteprotectiondonnees.be. If you live elsewhere in the European Union, you can also contact the authority of your own country.
